Inaugural conference - 2007

Information for overseas visitors

Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Abundant natural beauty and an unbeatable climate make the Sunshine Coast a special part of the world. The Sunshine Coast is in south-east Queensland just north of Queensland's capital city Brisbane. It is home to over 305,000 and is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.

This vibrant, expanding region stretches from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north. It includes 65 kilometres of Pacific Ocean beaches, magnificent mountain scenery and 14 national parks, including World Heritage Listed Fraser Island.

Further inland on the mountain range, the towns of Maleny, Montville and Mapleton are home to painters, potters and other artisans who ensure the art galleries and gift shops abound with locally produced art and crafts.

Theme parks such as UnderWater World and Australia Zoo are popular, as are the beach resorts with award winning golf courses.

Climate

The Sunshine Coast has a pleasant subtropical climate. Average summer (December-February) temperatures range from 17oC to 28oC. Winters (June-August) are mild and sunny with average temperatures ranging from 7oC to 22oC. We expect daytime temperatures to range from low to mid 20's C.

Dress

Please bring your bathing costume if you wish to enjoy the warm waters of nearby beaches, or the lagoons at the resort. (If you do swim at the beach, please BATHE BETWEEN THE FLAGS).

We are expecting the conference dinner to be a special event in the conference program so do plan to dress up a little for it and bring your dancing shoes!

All visitors are required to have a valid passport and may need entry visas. (Please check with your travel agent) Visas can be applied for, and issued from, the Australian government representatives in major cities throughout the world.
